Rescuing Data from a 'Bad Disk' MBR: A Comprehensive Guide

سبتمبر 19, 2023 0

We've all been there – faced with a computer hard drive labeled as a "bad disk" in the MBR (Master Boot Record). It can be a heart-wrenching moment when valuable data seems lost forever. But fear not! In this guide, we'll walk you through the steps to recover data from a hard drive with a bad MBR using MiniTool Partition Wizard and share our expert tips to get your files back safely.

Step 1: Gather Your Tools

Before you start the recovery process, you'll need a few essential tools:

1.MiniTool Partition Wizard:** This software will be your lifesaver. You can download a free trial version online.
2. An External Hard Drive:** To store the recovered data.
3.A Spare Computer:** You'll need another working computer to perform the recovery.

Step 2: Connect the 'Bad Disk'

1. Connect the hard drive with the bad MBR to your spare computer. Ensure all connections are secure.

Step 3: Install and Open MiniTool Partition Wizard

1. Install MiniTool Partition Wizard on the spare computer.
2. Launch the software.

Step 4: Detect and Repair MBR

1. In MiniTool Partition Wizard, select the 'Disk' menu and choose 'Rebuild MBR.'
2. Select the affected hard drive from the list.
3. Choose the appropriate MBR type (usually 'Windows Standard') and click 'OK' to proceed.
4. Click 'Apply' to execute the MBR repair.

Step 5: Scan for Lost Partitions

1. After repairing the MBR, return to the main interface of MiniTool Partition Wizard.
2. Select the 'Data Recovery' feature.
3. Choose the 'Full Scan' option to search for lost partitions and files.

Step 6: Preview and Recover Data

1. MiniTool Partition Wizard will display a list of recoverable files and folders. You can preview them to ensure you're recovering the right data.
2. Select the files you want to recover and choose a location on the external hard drive to save them.
3. Click 'Apply' to start the recovery process.

Step 7: Safely Eject the External Drive

1. Once the recovery is complete, safely eject the external hard drive.

 Step 8: Restore Your System

1. If you intend to continue using the repaired hard drive as your system drive, you may need to reinstall the operating system.
2. Ensure your system is booting from the recovered drive (if it was your system drive previously

Facing a 'bad disk' in the MBR can be a nerve-wracking experience, but with the right tools and knowledge, you can successfully recover your precious data. Remember to keep regular backups in the future to avoid such situations. MiniTool Partition Wizard is an invaluable tool in your data recovery arsenal, and by following these steps, you can rescue your data and breathe new life into a seemingly doomed hard drive.

How to Optimize Excel VBA Compiled Software

سبتمبر 01, 2023 0

Slow performance and loading time in Excel VBA is very annoying and can be frustrating too. This can be caused by various factors when not considered whilst programming.

following  are 15 step by step optimization tips to help improve the speed of your VBA-compiled software:

1. **Optimize Code**: Review your VBA code for any inefficiencies or redundant calculations. Use efficient algorithms and data structures to speed up processing.

2. **Turn Off Screen Updating**: Disable screen updating while your code is running by using `Application.ScreenUpdating = False`. This prevents Excel from refreshing the screen after each operation, which can significantly improve performance.

3. **Use Variables**: Minimize the use of direct cell references and store values in variables instead. Accessing cells repeatedly can slow down your code.

4. **Use Arrays**: If you're working with large datasets, consider using arrays to store and manipulate data in memory rather than interacting with individual cells.

5. **Disable Automatic Calculation**: Set `Application.Calculation = xlManual` to turn off automatic recalculation of formulas during code execution and then re-enable it when your code finishes.

6. **Avoid Select/Activate**: Avoid using `Select` and `Activate` methods, as they can slow down code execution. Instead, work directly with objects and ranges.

7. **Limit Worksheet Changes**: Minimize the number of changes made to worksheets during code execution. Each change can trigger recalculation and screen updates.

8. **Use Efficient Loops**: Opt for `For Each` or `For` loops instead of looping through a large range. Avoid using unnecessary nested loops.

9. **Close Unneeded Workbooks**: If your code interacts with multiple workbooks, close those that aren't required to reduce memory usage.

10. **Check for Memory Leaks**: Ensure that your code doesn't have memory leaks by releasing objects and variables that are no longer needed.

11. **Use Application Events Sparingly**: If you're using application-level events in your VBA code, make sure they are necessary and are not causing excessive overhead.

12. **Update Excel**: Ensure that you're using an up-to-date version of Excel with all available updates and patches installed.

13. **Consider 64-bit Excel**: If your data is very large, consider using the 64-bit version of Excel, which can handle larger memory allocations.

14. **Profiling**: Use profiling tools to identify bottlenecks in your code and focus on optimizing those areas.

15. **Error Handling**: Implement proper error handling to prevent crashes and unexpected issues that can slow down your program.

By optimizing your code and implementing these best practices, you should be able to improve the performance of your Excel VBA-compiled software.
